The Ohio Community Theatre Association started in 1953 with sixteen theatres. Today, in 2009 we are completing our 56th year and still going strong with 110+ community theatres as members of the organization.
Because of the economy of the state and nation, grant funds are decreasing very quickly and OCTA’s grant monies have decreased 65% since 1999. As a result of this decreased funding, OCTA has to depend on its Annual Conference to make money and our wonderful patrons to help keep the organizational programs functioning each year. We have just been informed that OCTA will not be receiving funding for the next two years from the Ohio Arts Council due to federal funding cuts. Now more than ever we need our Patrons to answer the call.
To become a Patron, download the Patron Form or talk with your theatre delegate, your regional representative or an OCTA Board Member and they will see that you get a patron form to complete.
This year we have added the opportunity for you to use your credit card to become an OCTA Patron if you do not have cash or a check handy. Just fill in the requested information and send the form to Eleanor Smith, 4042 Blendon Point Drive, Columbus, OH 43230-7807.
REMEMBER, OCTA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and your donation is tax deductible except for five dollars ($5.00) which is used to send you the OCTA newsletter Cuelines, throughout the year.
For more information, send an e-mail to smithec57@wowway.com or phone 614-418-9672 and speak to Eleanor Smith, OCTA Bookkeeper.
